This is for my feature on Yoga. I drew the tree with the word "yoga" and that got me thinking about tree pose - maybe I could incorporate a photo (not this one, I'd probably want to take the photo myself)... but it could work. Then I found this buddha image, and I thought I could have a person meditating (again, not this guy, but maybe a photo I take). I started a marker drawing of the buddha and it's coming along pretty well - I won't give it away until it's done though. Would illustrations even look good for my magazine idea?

Then I was playing with images for me Tahoe feature - I had some photos in my archive... I know we weren't supposed to use type, but i couldn't help it (though this is a placeholder, I'm sure I won't be using these fonts). I also came across some old images of Tahoe in the NYPL archives, so I might incorporate those into my feature (they actually coincide with some of my own photos - so before and after might be good).

This is for my books department. My idea is "What's so interesting about other people's lives?" - why some of the hottest titles are memoirs, how these superstar authors churn them out, what happens if they fake it, etc. So I got these crappy photos of a few authors on google images, and I'm trying some modifications on them - also thinking about sketching, or some kind of interesting illustration. I think I'll need images of the books themselves too, though I am not sure how I'm going to get that accomplished without buying all of em.
